The new Auditor General assumes his position officially at the head of the Office of the Auditor General of the Republic of Somalia

Please join me in welcoming the newly appointed Auditor General of Somalia, H.E Ahmed Isse Gutale, who replaced his predecessor and former Auditor General, H.E Mohamed Mohamud Ali, as of 9 February, 2023.
The new AG has extensive knowledge in legal matters, and previously served as Legal Advisor to the President and the Prime Minister, having worked in leadership positions for various companies and media organizations (both international and local).
AG Ahmed assumed office on Sunday, 19 February 2023, on the occasion of a successful inauguration and handover ceremony which was held in Villa Somalia. The high-level ceremony was attended by the outgoing and incoming AGs, Deputy Prime Minister and government stakeholders from the Central Bank of Somalia, Office of the Prime Minister, Budget and Finance Committee, Members of Parliament (both houses) and Ministry of Finance.
As part of the handover process, the outgoing AG delivered his opening remarks with a brief background of the OAGS and provided an overview of the milestones and achievements during his term, and welcomed his successor on his new appointment. The incoming AG supplemented with his own remarks, thanking his predecessor for the kind welcome and expressing his pleasure and commitment in assuming his new role in accordance with the law and international standards. The Deputy Prime Minister, H.E Salah Ahmed Jama, concluded the ceremony with closing remarks and the handover documents were signed off in his presence.
The AG is currently undergoing orientation and is engaged in meetings with OAGS management to assess and understand the overall OAGS ecosystem, operations and how to accelerate the progress level. Similarly, the AG is looking forward to meeting, building rapport and continuing our positive engagements with key stakeholders.
